Since 1958, the high school gym has been the venue for the senior prom. Parents of graduating seniors and community volunteers donate hundreds of hours of service to fund, design, and construct the entire Prom venue.
Scenic elements & theatrical lighting are used to illuminate the gym vignettes, high school entrance, and lobby. Even the boyS’ and girls’ bathrooms are decorated! The Prom’s secret theme is revealed on Prom night and never fails to leave prom attendees and community members in awe!
In addition to the tremendous investment of volunteers’ time, creativity, and sweat equity, monetary donations help us transform an inspired vision into reality. The magic that is symbolic of the Port Jefferson Senior Prom is truly a village-wide effort. It takes months of planning. It requires hundreds of volunteers on Prom Build Weekend. It takes a lot of paint, cardboard, and lumber! It also requires multiple fundraisers to raise the money needed for materials, supplies, and food to feed our hard-working volunteers and deserving Seniors on Prom Night.
