The 2024 Prom could not take place without the creativity, energy and commitment of the Parents of 2024 Seniors AND the overwhelming support of alumni, family members, students, teachers, District Administration, staff, local business owners and community members.

If you’re the Parent of a Class of 2024 Senior, please attend a committee meeting and help your fellow 2024 Senior Parents design & plan the Prom! If you haven’t heard about this year’s theme, attend a meeting and learn more (but don’t tell your student….it’s a secret)!

Listed below are descriptions of the many committees that work all year to create a magical and memorable prom for our students and our community.

PROM COMMITTEE DESCRIPTIONS

  • Design Committee- Plans artwork and props for gym walls, lobby, hallways, bathrooms and front of High School. The committee will meet regularly in first part of year. Designs/choses prom logo. Will meet with Painting and Construction committees as needed. Will partner with lighting and communicate needs.

  • Food and Entertainment- Committee obtains quotes for DJs, Photo “booths”, caterers and selects. The committee is also responsible for all beverages, plates, cups etc. (in conjunction with table settings) for Prom night and supply the food for the volunteers on Prom Build weekend/teardown. Responsible for soliciting donations for food where possible. Works in conjunction with table settings for ticket design and sales.

  • Table Settings/Goody Bags- Works in conjunction with Design Committee. Responsible for decorating tables to complement the theme. Sets tables Prom Monday. Responsible for clearing tables Tuesday morning, returning rented items (where applicable). Orders tee shirts for community volunteers and select what senior goody bag will entail. Works in conjunction with Food and Entertainment with ticket sales for seniors table selection.

  • Shifty Pics/Senior Slide Show- Responsible for collecting pictures for the shifty pics as well as pictures for senior slide show (as well as putting slide show together). Senior slide show is shown at Senior Breakfast as well as incorporated into prom.

  • Philanthropy- In charge of charitable work for the prom which includes partnering with the school on how many students will need yearbooks and prom tickets (free of charge). Reaching out to local businesses to help reduce costs of flowers, tuxedos etc. for said students. Reaches out to Infant Jesus Parish I regards to our donations during teardown. Organizes donations such as Food drive during walk through. Coordinates with Pax Christi for food donations of excess food (if any) after build weekend and prom.

  • Fundraising/Events Committee- Raise funds for the prom through agreed upon methods. Partners with finance.

  • Community service- Keeps track of community service during prom but especially during build weekend. Also responsible for ensuring that waivers are signed for all volunteers.

  • Construction Committee- Closely aligned with Design Committee. The construction committee will provide feedback and feasibility of design ideas. They will build props as requested. They will also, along with community volunteers, perform all construction activity on Prom Weekend and assist with teardown. Will also help with fireproofing.

  • Painting Committee- Closely aligned with design. Will trace/paint all cardboard and props for Prom. Will also help with fireproofing.

  • Social Media/Communication- Responsible for communication via Facebook and Instagram. Reaches out for publicity of prom through other avenues (Newsday, Local papers, News 12 etc.) Responsible for helping maintain Prom website.

  • Finance- Responsible for creating a budget for prom. Monitors expenses vs budgets. Pays bills and maintains checking account.

  • Prom Administrator- Main liaison for prom with school administration. Ensures communication goes out to senior parents. Works closely with all committee heads to ensure a properly running prom.

  • Executive Board- All Committee Chairs are automatically on the board. Any other senior parent may join the board as well
